what to do with your old tshirts

99ways.gif 99 Ways to Cut, Sew, Trim, and Tie Your T-Shirt into Something Special is a neat little book filled with lots of ways to cut up and turn all those random tshirts you have lying in the nether corners of your dresser into something more interesting (since i go to lots of random nerdy tech events - i’ve got lots of random techy tshirts that definitely need some modifying)

Each tshirt project is illustrated with clear instructions - most don’t require anything but a pair of scissors, a pen, and a ruler…and most take between 5-15 minutes. The design on the left is especially good for all those tshirts with annoying logos on the back!

A while back, I designed this tshirt with the intention of giving it to a friend for her birthday, but I never got around to printing it. I found it on my computer a couple days ago and finally decided to get one made so I sent it to Zazzle (an online make-your-own-tshirt-or-whatever-else-you-want shop). Today I got an email from Zazzle that said

Unfortunately, your order has been cancelled because it contains content that is in violation of United States copyright and/or trademark laws. Specifically, your order contains a product(s) with a copyright-protected image of Pac Man.

This really bums me out :-(

GheeHappy

deities1.gif When I was at Giant Robot last Saturday, I picked up this adorable book called The Little Book of Hindu Deities: From the Goddess of Wealth to the Sacred Cow. It’s the kind of book that makes me want to learn about all the deities. If only my math books were this gorgeous when I was in school, I’d be a genius (okay, maybe not…nonetheless, i wish all books were this beautiful). I remember meeting the author at APE a few years ago and seeing the illustrations before the book was out, so was really happy to finally find a copy.

He’s also got a website called GheeHappy where he sells super cute prints and tshirts too!

Evil Hello Kitty = Appley Rotten

evilkitty1.jpgRemember that silly Vox ad with the hipster? Well, it turns out that the hipster in that ad was wearing a Appley Rotten T-shirt! I would totatlly get one of these but they only come in girly tees, which I probably couldn’t squeeze into..

Here are some Appley Rotten animations, and here are more cute things by the same team. Apparently they will be showing and selling stuff at Feria Urbana at the Canvas Gallery on November 18. (via this incoming link)

Keep Saving Ocean Beach !

A lot of people have stepped up to defend having fires on Ocean Beach. Keep it up!

Over 1700 folks have written letters OPPOSING the ban on fires at Ocean Beach! (and less than 20 letters in favor of it)

Link to Save Ocean Beach and their web store.

Arthur C. Clarke, Buddhist monks, and the Best T-Shirt EVER!

BB points to this news story that has Arthur C. Clarke battling Buddhist monks over daylight savings time. It also shows Clarke wearing a tshirt that says “I INVENTED THE SATELLITE AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT!” I don’t know what to say. Here is Clarke’s paper on geosynchronous satellites.

If you’re the least bit inclined to have words emblazoned across your chest…

you might consider these.

available at busted tees

seen in LA…

If only this shirt came in this guy’s size….I think I’ll call the Giant Robot store on my lobster phone to suggest it.

Phonecall for Tasty!

Need to tell your friends about that sweet lobster harmonica you just bought? If only the phone on this shirt was for sale.

Squirrels are Nature’s Ninjas!

I always knew squirrels were sneaky creatures of the night, but this tshirt proves it!
