Check out the Kranti and Rubina zap guns. They are awesomely loud and used to shoot sparks, but the flints are worn out. Also, these two wooden tops have sharp metal points which are now rusty.

Leader One was made out of metal in JAPAN, so you know he’s gonna win!

It seems that researchers have found a new reaction carried out by the hemoglobin molecules in our red blood cells. Specifically, the researchers have discovered a method of converting nitrate salt stored in the blood cell into nitric oxide by oxidized hemoglobin. I found this article interesting not simply because of the new finding, but because it supports the idea that hemoglobin has undiscovered functions in the human body.

The main purpose of hemoglobin is to pick up oxygen molecules as blood passes through the lungs, then deposit the oxygen in the tissues that need oxygen. However, the average person has a hemoglobin concentration of about 15mg per deciliter of blood. This hemoglobin is 100% saturated with oxygen when leaving the lungs. At the end of the round trip through your body, it is about 70% saturated with oxygen before picking up more oxygen in your lungs. Think about all the energy that your body spends pumping blood around your body during the course of a day. If the only purpose of hemoglobin is as an oxygen transporter, that is a lot of reserve! The human body is generally more efficient that this, suggesting that hemoglobin serves some as of yet undefined purposes, making it even more of an elegant molecule than presently known. Of course, the role of this newly discovered reaction on vascular hemodynamics is yet to be defined.

My life is saga of bad customer service/customer experiences. This morning, the latest culprit was Time-Warner Cable. Assholes. My plan to decompress from the stress of the day was to pop in a netflix movie and chill out before going to sleep. I had just rented Rang De Basanti, which I had been looking forward to watching for a while. However, when I put it in my playstation, it turned out to be an audio CD!!! They gave me the soundtrack!!! Now, you may say, “Bobslobster, this soundtrack looks pretty good, maybe you should make some lemonade out of this lemon and give it a listen?

Well, Mr. Smart Guy, it just so happens that I just went to India, a country of 1 billion people, and came back with exactly 3 cds. One of which was the SOUNDTRACK TO RANG DE BASANTI!!!!!!!

ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! NETFLIX. IS. SCREWING. ME.

Tom Waits on the Daily Show Tonight

Tom Waits, the legendary live performer who rarely performs live, will in fact be performing on the Daily Show tonight. I am assuming this is to promote his new album, Orphans, which is a 3-CD 56-song extravaganza of old and new stuff. I hoped this would mean there would be an upcoming tour, but so far it doesn’t look like it. His last tour was in August ’06 and went unnoticed by me, I assume due to the unfathomable choice of tour locations such as Akron, OH and Asheville, NC.

When asked about the tour locations, he responded (in a press release):

“We need to go to Tennessee to pick up some fireworks, and someone owes me money in Kentucky.”

Enough said.
