Copenhagen’s Awesome Bicycle Infrastructure
StreetFilms has posted this video showing off the bicycle infrastructure in Copenhagen, where 37% of all commute trips are made on bike.
Update somewhat related: The Senseable City Lab at MIT has unveiled their Copenhagen Wheel.
It transforms ordinary bicycles quickly into hybrid e-bikes that also function as mobile sensing units. The Copenhagen Wheel allows you to capture the energy dissipated while cycling and braking and save it for when you need a bit of a boost. It also maps pollution levels, traffic congestion, and road conditions in real-time.

You need to get one of those wheels!
Copenhagen cyclists are definitely dedicated. Little old ladies will be out riding even if it’s snowing!
This is a neat blog on fashion and cycling in Copenhagen.
I like that they’re not wearing spandex :)
Copenhagen is awesome for cyclists, but for plain old pedestrians or (gasp!) bus-takers there’s a challenge: want to get on that yellow bus in the background? You have to plow through a steady stream of cyclists; the bike lane separates the sidewalks from the bus stops!
They have great tricycle-style bikes. Two wheels in front and a storage compartment big enough for a kid or two plus groceries.
