Pilarcitos Cyclocross 2008 – Race #1 McLaren Park from May Woo on Vimeo.
So this is what I subjected myself to yesterday! dirt riding, hill scrambling, barrier hopping, and log jumping. Yes it looks silly. It was fun! well at least the post riding / scrambling part of the day…the actual racing was painful. ouchies all over.

You can hear him repeating his name “Damar” a lot. Via this reddit thread, which contains this devastating story of a guy caring for a mccaw.
I used to have a friend who worked the night shift at Hardee’s. Late at night, a crow would perch on the drive through window and ask for a roast beef sandwich. Until then, I had no idea birds other than parrots could talk. Crows are spooky.

No human or god can match Nature’s simultaneous 4 flavor revolution in 1 Earth plant.
Thyme Cube would make a great Halloween Costume, but no one would get it. I wouldn’t get it, because I am seasoned stupid.

Wal-Mart is the cultural center of small town Middle America. In the evenings, Regular Folks Joe The Plumber travels down Main Street to watch the sunset at the Wal-Marts*.
*Wal-Marts is singular.

When in dino form, Slag (on the left) was stupid but impossibly strong. When transformed, he was stupid and inexplicably weak. He was one of our favs.
The one on the right didn’t transform, but he had a remote control shaped like a cricket, or maybe a pterodactyl…. I forget. He also shot orange discs out of his mouth for some reason.

The eighties were a time when robots were praised for their transforming ability, instead of feared for there strange customs and weird accent.

Cruel – An expert in combat Cruel uses his terrifying crushing grapplers to destroy any robot he meets. He is silent and indestructible which makes it easy for him to commit heinous acts. He also has two communication antennae on the upper sides of his head which allow him to communicate to others over long distances.

Check out the Kranti and Rubina zap guns. They are awesomely loud and used to shoot sparks, but the flints are worn out. Also, these two wooden tops have sharp metal points which are now rusty.

This guy was made by Bandai in 1984. Bob remembered his name.. PSYCHO. Not to be confused with Cy-Kill. Bob can remember the names of *all* our old GoBots and Transformers…

In an old box of recently-discovered childhood toys, we discovered an epic battle between Leader One and Skeletor had been raging since the mid eighties.
Leader One was made out of metal in JAPAN, so you know he’s gonna win!

We went to a ridiculous event put on by the GitHib crew. It was like dorkbot but with version control instead of electrons.

Wally and I went to check out AES after Loveparade and saw this rotary subwoofer. It looks like a fan and has a frequency response that goes down to 0hz!

No more AIM->Jabber gateway for me! Last month, Verizon started allowing the official AIM client for Blackberrys to work on their network. You can get it by going here.
I suspect the reason that they were blocking AIM for so long is that it allows you to send SMS messages for free to any phone number in the US. I think it’s crazy that they have been blocking AIM when blackberry users on their network pay a minimum of about $100/month after taxes for “unlimited” data.
Anyway, I’m glad to no longer have to keep a AIM->Jabber gateway up and running. You might as well get your money’s worth and make up for lost time by adding SMS contacts to your aim buddy list. If you want to send an SMS to 415-123-4567 add a buddy with screenname “+14151234567″ and send an IM. This should work for all US mobile numbers.
