Well Caffeinated

I just got this coffee gizmo called the Aerobie Aeropress. It’s made by the same company that makes those frisbees that always get stuck in trees.

It’s basically a french press with a filter, but unlike a french press, it takes only a few seconds to clean, it uses a paper filter so your coffee isn’t full of silt, and it’s made out of cheap plastic. They recommend using a ton of grounds and only brewing the coffee for ten seconds with not-so-hot water, which underextracts the beans and makes it insanely strong without being bitter. I’ve had two cups and now I think I can see through time!

This is about the 15th coffee gadget I’ve heard about… I think it’s time for a gadget-comparison (and coffee tasting) event!

The Aeropress seems perfect for camping btw. It cleans up super easy and is mosty unbreakable.

    Coffee gadgets I have:

    • Espresso machine
    • Moka pot
    • French press
    • Aeropress
    • Drip coffee maker
    • Backpackable coffee maker for caltrain

But wait! There’s more! Remind me sometime to tell you about Delhi coffee! It takes forever to make, but you use ‘instant’ coffee crystals to make it..

Raj, come on. All you need is a pot and fire to make Cowboy COffee.

Personally, I just chew up the beans and take a drink of water. Much easier cleanup.

Actually, I have an espresso maker, a french press, a “travel press”, a drip maker somewhere, and a percolator pot for camping.

Oh, and speaking of coffee, Trader Joe’s is now carrying something very similar to Pocket Coffee. Not quite the same, but still awesome.
