Bustin’ Like a Land Mine

I don’t remember how I heard about the Hi5 / T-Mobile / Sidekick Rap Challenge … I thought I read about it on TR but I can’t find the post. (I mean, where else would I read about such a thing?).

It has come to my attention that the one and only T-WIL, neé né (thanks Alexis!) Travis Wilbur, our biggest fan, has entered the contest with not just a Rap but a full on video to go with it.

You have got to check this out. Mad props dude! T-Dog: drop a comment on here so we can get some nice QuickTime encodings up, this flash video is driving me nuts (it’s dropping frames on my macbook pro) and I want to see your video in full rez glory. Not that I’m not impressed that you implemented your own Flash Video Player SWF for the video … this guy just doesn’t stop …. (although you might want to close that “object” tag in the myspace embed code for your video)

I don’t see how anyone else could win this contest. But if it doesn’t happen don’t worry about it, you’ll be laughing at these dinosaurs in a couple years when you’re rockin’ Hollywood in your Expedition.

UPDATE! We are talking about Travis WILBUR!!!. Sorry Travis … all these pixels dull the mind :-) Travis Walker is some guy I went to high school with.

    Hey Peliom,

This is T-WIL, (Travis WILBUR) not walker! lol Thanks for the blog post…this is the only blog I actually check online so it was interesting seeing a screen capture of my SK3 music video for the contest you guys told me about in a post!

I found out on Friday I’m a semifinalist in the Contest! lol I guess they find the winner sometime this week so I’m very excited, however this was just for fun so if I don’t win it’s all good in the hood!!

I would be glad to re-encode the video into QuickTime…Can you tell me some settings to get the best possible picture? I don’t use QuickTime that much at all but if you have any suggestions e-mail me at traviswilbur@gmail.com

    Thanks again for the post,

    Word to ya peeps!

Btw…Myspace changes the code and adds object tags when I save my profile information…weird!

I will email these to you but wanted to post the settings here for googlebot. These are the settings I think are good:

    • use the “Movie to QuickTime Movie” export option
    • use the “H.264″ codec
    • the 264 defaults are good: frame rate “current”, keyframes every 24 frames, data rate ‘automatic”, quality “high”, encoding “best qualitiy”
    • “Size…” I think 480×320 is a good size for broadband
    • Sound: AAC, 44.1khz, 128 kbits/sec
    • Prepare for Internet Streaming: … “Fast Start” is good! make sure this is checked

Hi, I’m a good friend of T-WIL’s and I’m really sorry to be picky and annoying but I noticed you have “…née Travis Wilbur” and it should be “né Travis WIlbur.” Just one “e” because he’s male and in french you only use the extra e for feminine stuff. Again, I’m really sorry to be so annoying but I love French and pay close attention to grammar!! I’m glad you guys have this for Travis he did such an awesome job on the video and loves his Sk3!! hahah ok thanks merci au revoir!
